Dan Crabtree Hero WOD Monday, May 27th.
Make your Memorial Day count - honor a fallen hero.
While many are planning family cookouts and parties at the lake on Memorial Day, members of local CrossFit affiliates will dedicate their Memorial Day honoring a fallen hero by performing a workout known as a “Hero WOD” in memory of Sgt. First Class Dan Crabtree who was killed in action on June 8, 2006 in Iraq. Co-owner of CrossFit 1863 and organizer of the Dan Crabtree Hero WOD, Randy Hensley, who is a member of the same National Guard unit as Dan Crabtree, is asking for donations to raise money which will be donated in memory of Sgt. Crabtree to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation whose mission is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent while serving in Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps Special Operations during an operational or training mission.
A CrossFit Hero WOD is some of the most intense workout experiences that you could experience. Hero WODs have been conceived and are intended to be performed with intense effort in honor of our fallen Heroes. The CrossFit community comes together to complete what, for some, may seem an impossible task. However, for CrossFitters, there is no better way than to honor someone than to dedicate intense physical effort in memory of one who gave their lives for our freedom.
CrossFit 1863 welcomes anyone that would like to participate in honoring SFC Dan Crabtree to their facility on East Pike Street on Old Bridgeport Hill on Monday, May 27th at 10 a.m. All donations are accepted and for a minimum donation of $20, participants will receive a t-shirt. All donations will be forwarded to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in memory of SFC Dan Crabtree. For more information check out the Dan Crabtree Hero WOD page on Facebook.
